A 20-year-old Thorold man is in custody after Niagara Regional Police arrested him last week in connection with a drug trafficking investigation centred on a St. Catharines address.

Iverson Kalombo was arrested on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in the area of Duke Street and Wellington Court in St. Catharines, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service. He faces criminal charges related to the investigation.

What police say happened

According to the Niagara Regional Police Service, the investigation began in the summer of 2026, when officers with the 1 District Street Crime Unit — which covers St. Catharines and Thorold — started looking into the illegal trafficking of drugs from an address on Queenston Street in St. Catharines. Police said investigators observed the suspect exhibiting behaviour consistent with drug trafficking.

On October 1, officers arrested Kalombo with assistance from the Emergency Task Unit. Detectives then obtained judicial search warrants for the Queenston Street residence and for a BMW SUV driven by the suspect, the NRPS said.

Kalombo remained in custody following his arrest and was scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday, October 2, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
