Toronto residents looking for arts and community events over the long weekend have options ranging from a video-sharing night on May 15 to a talent showcase and a beginner Dungeons and Dragons gathering. A poetry open mic follows on May 19.

The Green Line reported the upcoming events in its Toronto roundup, with opportunities to participate as well as watch. Here is what is scheduled, including the times and admission details provided.

Video-sharing night on May 15

On Task Studio is holding Video Show and Tell on May 15 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Participants can sign up to share a short clip, such as a music video or TikTok, with the audience.

Clips should run about three minutes. Admission is $15 or pay what you can, and prizes will recognize entries in categories including funniest video, most emotional and audience favourite.

Talent showcase on May 16

The AMY Project and Radical Mess art collective are hosting the “Our story isn’t over yet” showcase at Evergreen Brickworks on May 16, from noon to 2 p.m.

The event centres Mad, Disabled and Neurodivergent artists and their talents. People who cannot attend at the venue can also watch an online stream.

Dungeons and Dragons characters on May 17

A May 17 gathering at Three Dollar Bill is aimed at queer beginners who want help developing a Dungeons and Dragons character.

Host DeVery Bess will help participants work on their characters alongside other new players. The roundup does not list a start time or admission price for this event.

Poetry open mic on May 19

After the weekend, Mixed Metals will hold its monthly poetry night at Danu Social House on May 19. Sign-up for those wishing to read begins at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Poet Sacha Archer is the featured performer this month. The featured reading will be followed by people who have signed up for the open mic.

Tickets are $10 or pay what you can, with payment available on the night.
