The TTC is ramping up service and keeping the subway running late into the night as soccer fans head to Toronto Stadium on Wednesday for a FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Ghana and Panama.

Additional trains will operate on Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, along with several bus and streetcar routes, according to a TTC news release. Subway service will continue past its usual 1:30 a.m. end time on June 17 so fans have a safe way home.

Getting to the match

Exhibition Loop and the roads into Exhibition Place will be closed on match days, so streetcars will instead pick up and drop off at a dedicated Fleet Street Transit Hub, between Fort York Boulevard and Strachan Avenue.

From there, fans can walk to Toronto Stadium, Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway.

The 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst streetcars will run every five minutes during the tournament, and the 504 King will operate at least that frequently. Riders coming in on the 504 can get off at King St. W. and Bathurst St. and transfer to a southbound 511 to reach the Fleet Street hub.

Detours expected before kickoff

Fan marches leaving Trinity Bellwoods Park and Stanley Park ahead of tonight's match will force detours and delays on the 501 Queen, 504 King and 63 Ossington between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The TTC is encouraging riders to budget extra travel time or look for alternate routes.

Customer service ambassadors in red jerseys will be stationed at high-traffic locations to answer questions and offer on-the-spot help.

Trip planning upgrades

Through a partnership with the Transit app, the TTC offers step-by-step navigation at stations on Lines 1, 2, 4 and 6. At Bathurst, Dufferin, Union, Bloor-Yonge, King and St Andrew stations, those instructions work with new alphanumeric exit signage to point riders to the best exit.

Toronto transit users will also get free access this summer to Transit's premium trip-planning service, Royale.

The TTC's website now includes a redesigned live service updates bar offering a centralized view of alerts and advisories, including planned and real-time disruptions across the network.

Limited-edition merchandise

Fans passing through Bathurst Station can visit a TTC pop-up shop selling limited-edition merchandise available only during the tournament. More kiosks will appear at other stations as the World Cup continues, and TTC soccer-themed gear is also sold online.
