An investigation into a Brampton traffic stop has led to the seizure of two additional firearms and further charges against one of the accused, Peel Regional Police said.
Investigators with the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau found a 9 mm handgun, a sawed-off rifle and several rounds of ammunition at the residence of one of the people charged in the original incident, according to police.
The additional seizure followed a stop in the area of Cedarbrook Road and Edgewater Court on Aug. 10. Police said officers investigating a vehicle found a loaded illegal handgun.
Three people were arrested following that stop and charged with multiple firearm-related offences.
On Aug. 13, at approximately 10:30 p.m., investigators attended the residence of one of those accused and located the two additional firearms and ammunition. Police described the weapons as illegal.
Navjot Singh, 29, of Innisfail, Alberta, now faces a total of 14 charges connected to the investigation. Police said he was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
The police update did not list the individual additional charges against Singh or identify the location of the residence where the two firearms were found.
In the release, Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Marc Andrews credited officers at 21 Division and community partnerships for the removal of the firearms and ammunition.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 2133.
