Two Toronto men are facing kidnapping and extortion charges after an investigation into an abduction in Ajax last fall, according to Durham Regional Police.

Police say the incident began on Saturday, October 25, 2025, when a man who provides transportation services was contacted to drive two individuals from Ajax to Montreal.

The victim arranged to meet two males at a set location in Ajax. When he arrived, police said, three males forced him into another vehicle while threatening him with a firearm.

He was then driven to an ATM and made to withdraw cash for the suspects, according to Durham Regional Police. The victim was later released and did not suffer any physical injuries.

Search warrants executed in Toronto

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, members of the West Crime Team, assisted by the Tactical Support Unit, executed search warrants at three residences in Toronto. Two of the three suspects were found and arrested without incident.

Victor Antonio Nunez Ceja, 32, of Toronto is charged with kidnapping, extortion, robbery, pointing a firearm, and occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, according to Durham Regional Police.

Jose Emmanuel Gonzalez Villa, also 32 and from Toronto, faces the same five charges, police said.

Investigators have not announced any charges against a third suspect. Police note the allegations have not been proven in court.
