Whitby residents have until Wednesday, Aug. 12 to confirm they are on the Voters' List ahead of this fall's municipal election, according to a Town of Whitby news release.
The Town is encouraging eligible voters to take a few minutes before casting a ballot in October to make sure their information is up to date. Confirming details in advance helps keep the Voters' List accurate and makes voting on Election Day quicker and easier, the release said.
How to check
Electors can confirm or update their information through the Province's website at registertovoteon.ca. Residents can access the service using their full name, date of birth and property address.
Anyone who misses the Aug. 12 deadline can still update their voter information by contacting the Town directly, but that option does not open until Sept. 1.
What's on the ballot this October
The 2026 Whitby municipal election takes place Monday, Oct. 26. Voters will elect the Mayor, Regional and Local Councillors, and School Board Trustees.
Eligibility requirements apply on Election Day. Residents who want to review the full criteria, learn about candidates or find out where to vote can visit whitby.ca/VOTE, where the Town has posted election information and important dates.
Questions about the election can be directed to the Town's election team by phone at 905-430-4315.
With the confirmation window closing Aug. 12 and election day just over two months later, the Town's message to residents is simple: check the list now so October goes smoothly at the polls.
