Mississauga residents who want to watch Team Canada chase medals in Italy will not need to stay indoors. The city announced Tuesday that Mississauga Celebration Square will show select live coverage of the 2026 Winter Games in Milano and Cortina on its big screens, with free public viewing starting Friday.

How to watch

  • Winter Games: Feb. 6 to 22, screenings daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Paralympic Games: March 6 to 15, screenings daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Where: on the snowy lawn in front of the big screens at Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Dr.

  • Cost: free

The city notes that screenings are scheduled around other live programming on the square and that times may change. Not every competition will be shown. Viewers are asked to dress for the weather, since the screenings are outdoors.

More ways to get outside

If watching the Games inspires a turn on the ice or a run down a hill, the city has pointed residents to several popular winter spots:

  • Skating at Celebration Square, the loop at Port Credit Memorial Park, and the new outdoor skating pad at Gulleden Park

  • Tobogganing on designated hills at Erindale Park and Birchwood Park

  • Walking or snowshoeing on the city's trail system

  • Indoor options at community centres such as Mississauga Valley, Clarkson and River Grove, with gyms, pools and courts

Adults 65 and older can register for a free fitness membership that gives access to participating city fitness centres and select classes. The city also now offers seasonal registration for recreation and culture programs, so families can plan swimming, skating, fitness and arts sessions ahead of time.
