Students heading back to York University's Markham Campus this week are being greeted with Winter Welcome Week, a five-day series of drop-in activities at the start of the winter term.

The event runs Monday, Jan. 5 to Friday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day in the campus's first-floor atrium. It is organized by Markham Campus Student Life.

Day by day

  • Monday, Jan. 5: hot chocolate and a chance to share resolutions for 2026

  • Tuesday, Jan. 6: vision boards, with students invited to make their own or add to a shared campus banner

  • Wednesday, Jan. 7: Minute to Win It and other quick challenges, with prizes

  • Thursday, Jan. 8: writing down wishes for the year and adding them to winter campus decor

  • Friday, Jan. 9: a send-off for 2025, with students invited to dissolve last year's worries in what organizers call a fun and sustainable way

The activities are aimed at students. Questions can be sent to Markham Campus Student Life at markhamstudentlife@yorku.ca.
