Mississauga families will have free swimming and skating, library programs and maple-season activities to choose from during March Break, with City programming running March 14 to 22.
In a March 10 update, the City of Mississauga said activities are planned throughout the nine-day period. Some options are free drop-ins, while others require tickets or camp registration.
The City also said March Break camp spaces are filling quickly, with some spots still available for programs involving creative and hands-on activities.
Free recreation and library programs
Community centres across Mississauga will offer free swimming and skating during the break. The City advises families to arrive early because spaces can fill quickly and to consult its drop-in calendar when planning a visit.
Mississauga libraries will host magic shows, drumming workshops, storytimes, fire truck visits and hands-on creative activities. Details about the family programming are available at mississaugalibrary.ca/march.
The recreation drop-in calendar and library programming page provide places to check activities before heading out. The City’s announcement does not list individual swimming, skating or library session times.
Maple-season activities and special guests
A ticketed maple-season event will offer families a chance to follow a maple sap trail, sample syrup with pancakes and explore Bradley House. Crafts and games are also part of the programming.
The special guest schedule includes teachings from Elder Mark Sault on March 14 and 15, followed by a petting zoo on March 21 and 22.
The maple event is scheduled to proceed in rain or shine. Tickets are available online.
Basketball and live entertainment
The Raptors 905 will play the Motor City Cruise at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre on Tuesday, March 17, adding a basketball option to the week’s activities.
The City also highlighted live entertainment ranging from puppetry to musical theatre during March Break.
Before the break begins, Peter Oldring and Pat Kelly of This is That are scheduled to join Carolyn Taylor of Baroness von Sketch Show for an evening of sketch entertainment. The City’s update says tickets are available but does not specify the performance date or venue.
Families looking for updates can check the City’s website and social media accounts as they plan their March Break outings.
