A two-week dry streak across southern Ontario is about to come to a wet end, as the remnants of a Pacific hurricane track thousands of kilometres east to the Great Lakes.

According to The Weather Network, moisture from Hurricane Polo — which made landfall as a Category 2 storm on the Baja California Peninsula Monday night — is merging with a low-pressure system and pulling in additional moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.

That tropical moisture will travel roughly 3,000 kilometres before reaching the region, arriving after a stretch of dry weather the forecaster describes as one of the longest of 2026 in southern Ontario.
