The Town of Caledon is inviting residents to get outside and stay active this month as it celebrates June is Recreation and Parks Month, an initiative recognized across Ontario that highlights the role recreation spaces and programs play in supporting healthy lifestyles, social connection and vibrant communities.
Free activities and events are running throughout June, according to the Town of Caledon, ranging from lane swims and fitness classes to family programs, sports, skating and inclusive activities. Town staff say the offerings are designed to promote physical, mental and social well-being and are suitable for a variety of age groups and fitness levels.
A full calendar of events is available at Caledon.ca/JRPM. Pre-registration is recommended for qualifying activities, with Caledon residents and members able to register 49 hours in advance. Non-residents can register 25 hours ahead of an activity's start time.
"June is Recreation and Parks Month is a great reminder of how important active living and outdoor spaces are to our overall well-being," said Mayor Annette Groves. "Whether it's joining a program, visiting a local park, or simply spending more time outside, we encourage residents of all ages to get involved, explore something new, and make the most of the opportunities available throughout Caledon this month."
Summer program registration opens in June
Alongside the month-long celebration, the town is preparing to launch summer program registration in June. This season includes more than 7,500 available spaces across over 1,400 courses, along with 4,600 hours of drop-in activities.
Residents can view programs and register through the Caledon Recreation App.
Outdoor amenities open for the season
The town is also encouraging residents to enjoy the outdoors throughout the month, pointing to local tennis courts, basketball courts, skate parks and other facilities. A full list of amenities is available at Caledon.ca/Facilities.
