Mississauga residents looking for something to do this weekend won't need to spend a dime: a free, two-day music festival is coming to Port Credit Memorial Park this Friday and Saturday.

Music On The River is a free community music festival taking place on Aug. 14 and 15 at the waterfront park in the city's Port Credit neighbourhood, according to CHCH. The station's Morning Live program featured the festival's founders, Stephanie and William Gooch, who shared details about the event.

A free weekend of music by the water

The festival runs across two days at Port Credit Memorial Park, a community green space steps from the Credit River and Lake Ontario. Admission is free, making it an accessible outing for families, music fans and anyone else in the Peel area looking for a weekend activity close to home.

The Gooches founded the festival, which brings live music programming to the Port Credit waterfront each summer. Residents can find more information, including performance details, on the festival's website at musicontheriver.com.

With the festival falling mid-August, attendees can expect summer weather at the open-air venue. Those planning to go may want to arrive early, as free community festivals in Port Credit typically draw steady crowds through the village.
