Grimsby residents who have not yet cast a ballot in the 2026 municipal and school board elections have one last chance to vote in person before election day, with an advance poll open today at the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre.
The poll runs Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the facility at 162 Livingston Ave. A first advance poll was held October 14 at the same location, according to a Town of Grimsby notice.
Online voting already underway
Voters do not have to wait for a polling place to make their choice. Online voting opened October 5 at noon and will remain available until 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26, the town said.
Anyone voting in person is asked to bring their Voter Information Letter along with acceptable identification. The letters were mailed to eligible voters earlier this month, and anyone who had not received one by October 1 was asked to call 905-945-9634 ext. 2003.
Full details on voting options, identification requirements and key dates are posted at the town's election page, www.grimsby.ca/town-hall/elections/.
Election day and road closure
Election day itself is Monday, October 26, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters must go to their designated polling location based on the ward their property is in, rather than the advance poll site.
Drivers should also plan for a road closure tied to the election period. Mountain Street will be closed starting Monday, October 19, between Elm Street and Main Street. Businesses in the area remain open, and parking can be reached through alternate routes, the town said.
The 2026 vote will decide Grimsby's next municipal council as well as school board representatives.
