The official results of Thorold's 2026 municipal and school board elections have been certified, clearing the way for the city's next council to take office.

City Clerk Nicholas Debono certified the official results on Oct. 27, 2026, according to the City of Thorold.

Members-elect of Thorold City Council will attend an inaugural meeting on Nov. 17, 2026, where they will be sworn in and take the oath of office for their respective positions.

Their term of council formally begins on Nov. 15, 2026, and runs until Nov. 14, 2030, meaning the outgoing council's mandate will end two days before the new members are formally sworn in at the inaugural ceremony.

The certification marks the final administrative step in Thorold's 2026 municipal election process, which saw voters across Niagara Region head to the polls earlier this month to choose their mayor, city councillors and school board trustees.

Municipal elections in Ontario are held every four years on the fourth Monday in October, with newly elected councils taking their seats in mid-November.

Thorold residents with questions about the results or the upcoming inauguration can contact the city's communications office. Natalie Stickles, community relations specialist with the Office of the CAO, can be reached at 905-227-6613 ext. 439 or by email at communications@thorold.ca.

The city is located at 3540 Schmon Parkway, PO Box 1044, Thorold, Ont.

The newly constituted council will serve through the remainder of the decade, overseeing decisions on local budgets, infrastructure and community services in a city that sits at the centre of Niagara Region, bordered by St. Catharines, Welland and Niagara Falls.
