Drivers and pedestrians in Pickering will need to plan around a two-week closure of Glenanna Road starting Monday, November 2, as the Region of Durham installs a new watermain in the area.

According to a City of Pickering service notice, the closure will run from Monday, November 2 to Monday, November 16, 2026. It affects Glenanna Road and the east sidewalk from the north limit of The Esplanade North to the entrance of the Health Services Centre, roughly 100 metres south of Kingston Road.

What's closed

The west sidewalk of Glenanna Road will also remain closed between Pickering Parkway and The Esplanade North during the same period.

The city says detours have been set up for both vehicles and pedestrians, and signage will be posted throughout the affected area to guide travellers around the work zone.

Access to the Health Services Centre

Patients and visitors heading to the Health Services Centre at 1885 Glenanna Road will still be able to reach the building. The city says access will be maintained from Glenanna Road via Kingston Road.

The closure is needed to accommodate the installation of the Region of Durham's watermain in the corridor.
