A stretch of Hansler Road in Thorold will be shut down for the day on Wednesday, Oct. 21, while the City carries out asphalt repairs and replaces a culvert at two separate locations.
According to the City of Thorold, the closure runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and covers Hansler Road between the Holland Road intersection and the Highway 20 crossroads.
Two work sites on one stretch
The road repairs will be done between Holland Road and 2205 Hansler Road. The culvert replacement is happening at 2123 Hansler Road, north of the property's driveway.
Because the work sits at two points along the road, access rules depend on where residents live.
Local traffic with addresses at 2149 Hansler Road and above will be able to reach their properties from Holland Road only. Addresses at 2123 Hansler Road and below will have to use Highway 20.
Emergency vehicles will keep full access to the road throughout the day, the City said.
Detour for through traffic
Drivers who don't live in the area will be directed onto a detour using Holland Road, Merrittville Highway and Highway 20.
Residents with concerns about the closure can contact Thorold Public Works at 905-227-6613, extension 266.
The City has posted a map of the closure and work zones online. The closure notice also points residents to the City's subscription service for email alerts on programs, events and emergencies.
