Whitby residents on the Voters’ List are being mailed notification cards with details about where and when they can vote in the Oct. 26, 2026, municipal election, according to a Town of Whitby notice.

Residents should review their cards when they arrive. Each includes the voter’s ward, school support and qualifying address, as well as voting dates and locations.

Anyone who does not receive a card, or finds incorrect information on it, can check or update their Voters’ List entry at whitby.ca/VOTE or contact the Office of the Town Clerk.

Online changes through the Town’s Plan Your Vote tool are available until 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. Voters can also update their information in person at a voting location during the Oct. 22 to 26 voting period.

Voting dates and options

Advance voting will run from Oct. 22 to 25, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at three locations across Whitby.

On election day, Monday, Oct. 26, voters can cast a ballot from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at any of 19 voting locations.

Eligible voters are not restricted to a voting location in their own ward. They can choose whichever location works best for them.

A special mail-in ballot is another option for eligible voters who cannot vote in person. Application deadlines and instructions for voting by mail are available through the Town’s election information.

What to bring and where to get help

Anyone voting in person must bring one piece of identification that shows both their name and Whitby address. The Town says bringing the notification card can also help speed up the voting process.

The card provides information for voters, while the identification requirement applies to those casting a ballot in person. Residents with missing or inaccurate cards can use the online tool or seek help from the Town before voting.

A total of 47 candidates will appear on Whitby ballots this fall. Residents can find candidate information, voting locations and important election dates at whitby.ca/VOTE.

Questions about the election can be directed to the Town’s Election Team at elections@whitby.ca or 905-430-4315.
