Voting in Whitby's 2026 municipal election begins this Thursday, October 22, and residents will have five days to cast a ballot at whichever open location suits them, the Town has announced.
In-person voting runs through to Voting Day on Monday, October 26, according to a Town of Whitby news release. Voters are not tied to a specific polling place or day — they can visit any voting location that is open at the time.
From October 22 to 25, voting will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at any of three locations across Whitby. On October 26, Voting Day, polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 19 locations throughout town.
The Town says spreading voting over five days is meant to give eligible electors flexibility in choosing the day and place that works best for them, rather than having to wait until the final day.
What to bring
Voters must present a piece of acceptable identification that confirms both their name and their qualifying address in the Town of Whitby. The Town cites a driver's licence or a utility bill as examples.
Electors are also encouraged to bring their blue Voter Notification Card, which the Town says will make the voting process faster.
Residents who need to update their information on the Voters' List can find details on the Town's election website at whitby.ca/VOTE. The same page lists all voting locations and important dates for the election.
Plan before you go
Before voting opens, the Town is encouraging residents to use its Plan Your Vote tool, which is available through the election website. The tool is designed to help voters confirm they are on the Voters' List and learn about candidates before heading out.
Voters can also check where each location is and choose the voting option that fits their schedule, since any open location will accept their ballot.
