Ottawa residents have until Wednesday morning to submit the name of a loved one who served, as the Ottawa Catholic School Board prepares to display those names on a large digital sign outside its Catholic Education Centre for Remembrance Day.
The names will appear on the sign in front of the Catholic Education Centre from November 6 to 13, 2026, according to the Ottawa Catholic School Board. The annual tribute, called OCSB Remembers, honours veterans, active service members and their families.
Members of the public can submit a name through a form on the board's website. Submissions must be received by Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 9 a.m.
"Every name tells a story, and every act of service deserves to be remembered," the board said on its website, adding that recognizing service and sacrifice helps ensure those stories continue to be remembered.
The board is encouraging community members to visit the sign during the display period and take photos of their loved ones' names as a way to reflect and remember.
How schools are marking the day
Across the board's schools, students and staff mark Remembrance Day through liturgies, classroom learning, letters of gratitude, art, music, displays and moments of quiet reflection. The board said these activities help students connect with the stories of those who served and consider how they can contribute to a more peaceful world.
The board pointed to last year's Remembrance Day gatherings, when school communities came together through reflection, music, displays, prayer, art and assemblies to honour those who served.
School communities are being encouraged to share their Remembrance Day reflections and tributes online using the hashtag #ocsbRemembers.
The display period spans Remembrance Day itself, which falls on Wednesday, November 11.
The board notes that its schools are located on the ancestral, traditional and unceded Indigenous territory of the Algonquin Peoples.
Names can be submitted through the form on the board's website until the November 4 deadline.
