Niagara Regional Police are trying to identify two masked suspects after a vehicle was used to ram the front of a Welland jewelry store on Monday afternoon in a failed break-in attempt.

According to the Niagara Regional Police Service, uniform officers from 3 District (Welland/Pelham) were called to the Thorold Road and Prince Charles Drive area at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, after a report of an attempted break and enter at a jewelry store.

Police said a white Volkswagen Touareg SUV was used to hit the front of the business in an effort to get inside. The suspects could not gain entry and fled the scene in a black Audi Q7 SUV, travelling at a high rate of speed, before officers arrived.

The suspect vehicle was last seen heading south on Lloyd Avenue from Thorold Road and may have stopped briefly near the intersection of Lloyd Avenue and Maple Park Drive.

The initial investigation determined two male suspects were involved, both described as wearing masks. Detectives with the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have taken over the case.

While investigators believe the jewelry store was specifically targeted in this incident, police are urging the public to use caution if they spot the suspects or the suspect vehicle, citing the extreme danger posed by the pair's behaviour and driving.

No injuries were reported. Police said the building sustained significant damage, and a structural engineer is being consulted to assess the integrity of the structure.

Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the offence, or anyone with useful security or dashcam footage along the route the suspects travelled, to contact investigators at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009106. Anyone who sees the suspects or the suspect vehicle is advised to call 9-1-1 immediately.
