The playground at Glengrove Park will be off limits to Pickering families for roughly six weeks this fall while the City rebuilds it from the ground up.
According to a City of Pickering notice, the closure runs from Monday, October 19, 2026 to Friday, November 27, 2026. The work includes installing new playground equipment and replacing the existing engineered wood fibre safety surfacing that cushions the ground beneath it.
Residents who use the park with young children will need to plan around the closure, as the playground will be inaccessible for the duration of the project.
Timelines could shift
The City cautions that the posted dates are estimates. According to the notice, the schedule may be adjusted because of weather, contractor and material availability, or unexpected conditions found once crews begin digging.
That means the playground could reopen either earlier or later than the November 27 end date, depending on how the work unfolds.
Who to contact
Questions about the project can be directed to Jia Dhatt, Coordinator of Parks Development with the City's Engineering Services Department, by phone at 905.420.4660 ext. 2060 or by email at jdhatt@pickering.ca. The department is located at One The Esplanade in Pickering.
The City thanked residents for their patience while the work is completed.
