Mississauga's 2026 municipal election is Monday, Oct. 26, and residents who haven't yet cast a ballot have one final chance to have a say in who leads the city for the next four years.

According to a City of Mississauga news release, voting is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. across the city. Eligible voters will elect Mississauga's mayor, their ward and regional councillor, and school board trustees for the 2026–2030 term of office.

What to bring and where to go

On election day, voters can cast a ballot at any voting location in their ward. The City encourages residents to confirm they are on the voters' list before heading out.

Voters who received a voter notification card in the mail in September should bring it with them. The card is not required to vote, but it shows a voter's information and can help speed up the process at the polling station.

Each voter must bring one piece of acceptable identification that shows their name and qualifying Mississauga address, the City said.

Can't vote in person? Proxy option available

Residents who are unable to vote on election day can appoint another eligible voter to cast a ballot on their behalf. To do so, the voting proxy must bring a completed form and their own identification to the Elections Office at 3235 Mavis Rd. before 5 p.m. on Oct. 26, ahead of voting.

The City says it is committed to providing accessible voting for everyone. Details on accessible voting options, along with the full list of candidates running for mayor, council and school board trustee positions, are available at mississaugavotes.ca.

When results will be posted

Unofficial election results will be posted at mississauga.ca/elections after polls close at 8 p.m. on election day, and will be updated as ballots are reported in from each voting location. Official results will follow.

The City is reminding residents that municipal elections directly shape decisions about roads, parks, transit, community programs and other local services — decisions that affect daily life in Mississauga.
