Drivers travelling through north Oshawa should plan for delays this fall. Lane restrictions will be in place on Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) from October 26 to November 20, according to the Region of Durham.
The restrictions will run from Glovers Road to Niagara Drive. The Region says a minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open at all times while the work is underway.
The lane closures are needed to allow for the relocation of Enbridge Gas infrastructure in preparation for a pending Region capital works project. No details about the follow-up project were included in the announcement.
Weather could affect the timeline. The Region notes that unfavourable conditions may impact the work schedule, meaning the restrictions could shift depending on conditions in late October and November.
Enbridge recognizes the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete it as quickly and efficiently as possible, the notice said. Drivers are being asked to exercise caution through the work zone for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

The Region of Durham can also be reached by phone at 311 within region limits, or 905-668-7711, for questions about the work.
