Residents in Pelham may notice a drone flying over Fonthill and Hillside Cemeteries this weekend as the Town carries out aerial mapping work.
The flights are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25, during the day, according to a Town of Pelham notice. The work is part of the municipality's effort to update its cemetery software program.
What's happening
The drone will capture mapping imagery at the two cemetery properties. The Town did not specify how long the flights will take, only that they will occur during daytime hours.
Cemetery mapping software is commonly used by municipalities to maintain accurate records of burial plots, interments and cemetery layouts. The Town said the update is the reason for the work but did not provide further details about the new software.
What residents should know
Anyone visiting Fonthill or Hillside Cemeteries on Sunday may see the drone in operation overhead. The Town thanked residents in advance for their understanding and cooperation while the work is completed.
The municipality did not indicate that the cemeteries will be closed to visitors during the flights.
