The Penetanguishene Mid-Pen Transit route will be on a detour for about three weeks starting Monday, Oct. 26.

According to a Town of Midland notice, the change is needed because of construction in the parking area of the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health. The detour is expected to stay in place for approximately three weeks.

What riders should know

The route serves Penetanguishene as part of the Mid-Pen Transit service, which the Town of Midland operates. The town says the construction at the Waypoint site is what is forcing buses off their normal path through the area.

No end date beyond the approximate three-week window was given. Riders who rely on the route through the hospital area should expect changes to stops and timing while the work is underway.

The notice did not specify which stops will be affected or where the detour will run. The town apologized for the inconvenience and thanked riders for their patience during the detour.

Route and schedule information for Mid-Pen Transit is posted on the Town of Midland's transit page at midland.ca/transit. Riders planning trips on the Penetanguishene route are advised to check there before travelling once the detour begins.
