Walkers who use Valleyview Park will have to wait a little longer for the finishing touches on its pathway. According to a City of Pickering notice, construction on the park's pathway has been extended, with paving work still needed to complete the project.

The pathway replacement is now scheduled to run from Friday, October 30 through Friday, November 6, 2026. The notice did not say how long the project had originally been expected to take, only that the timeline has been pushed back.

The city is describing the work as a pathway replacement, meaning park users should expect continued disruption along the route while crews lay new asphalt.

"Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this work is completed," the notice states.

Who to contact with questions

Residents with questions about the project can reach Katia Lepka, coordinator of Parks Capital Assets with the city's Engineering Services Department, at 905.420.4660 ext. 5259 or klepka@pickering.ca. Arnold Mostert, manager of Landscape and Parks Development, is also listed as a contact at ext. 2143 or amostert@pickering.ca.

A service disruption line is also available at 1.866.278.9993 for residents who want updates on the closure.

The City of Pickering regularly posts public notices about construction, road work and service disruptions on its website, where residents can also sign up to receive updates by email.

Valleyview Park is one of the city's neighbourhood parks, and the pathway work is expected to improve the trail once the final paving is done. In the meantime, anyone planning a visit over the next week should be prepared for crews and equipment on site.
