A portion of Centre Street in Thorold will be closed to traffic next week while crews install water services for a new development. According to a City of Thorold notice, the closure will take place Monday, Oct. 26 and Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The work is being carried out by a private developer at 2248 Centre St., which needs the temporary closure to hook up water services for the new project. The city has posted a temporary road closure map showing detour routes for drivers. Residents with questions or concerns are being directed to Cotton Inc. at 905-262-2000, ext. 234.
Allanburg bridge closure continues
The Centre Street closure isn't the only construction disruption in the area. Bridge 11 in Allanburg remains closed until Nov. 11, a closure that began Oct. 13. Drivers travelling through Thorold's west side may want to plan extra time for both the bridge work and the upcoming Centre Street closure. The city is encouraging residents to sign up for its newsletter, announcements and alerts to stay current on events, programs and operations, including emergencies.
